I See You

I See You

When you’re in a room full of children — all with different personalities, skills, and needs — there’s one thing every single one of them desires: to be seen.

Before we begin our sessions, we always ask the children about their day.

Some are quick to share, their hands shooting up with excitement. Others stay quiet, maybe because the day didn’t go quite as planned. But that simple question — “How was your day?” — gives us a glimpse into what’s going on inside their world. It helps us understand what they might be carrying emotionally, or the social challenges they may be facing.

For us as adults, these moments are a mix of entertainment, challenge, and discovery.

We find ourselves silently rooting for them to grow in certain areas. And when they share stories about how they’ve handled tough situations, we can’t help but smile — sometimes even laugh quietly at their creative, unexpected ways of solving problems.

Of course, there are other days when, as they say, “the struggle is real.” Those are the moments when we get to step in and gently guide them through what they’re feeling or facing.

Each of these conversations teaches us something. They help us see the children more clearly — not just as a group, but as individuals. We begin to notice who needs more encouragement, who might benefit from extra one-on-one time, and who simply needs to know that someone cares.

We see them.
We see them collectively and individually.
And that allows us to serve them better.

Imagine what it’s like to crave being seen — to want it deeply but not know how to ask for it. Then imagine someone coming along and truly seeing you.

That’s when you realize you’re not invisible.
You’re valued.
